Performer, founder of Flying Embers Improv and Peaceabilities Productions
Irene began performing long-form in 2003, and has been a cast member of the Improv teams Zen Fried Improv and Purple Jessups, both based out of the Triangle area, NC. After being described throughout her life as both funny and bossy, she decided to invest in the best improv theatre can buy. And get tax breaks while being funny and bossy. In addition to performing, she also manages the Flying Embers and their parent company, Peaceabilities Productions, LLC. Irene is grateful to her dear Instructors – Dan Sipp, Anoo Tree Brod, and Brian Dukes, and to Burning Coal Theatre, for giving this little Improv Troupe a place to roost.
Jorie Slodki recently moved to the Triangle area after fleeing the frozen tundra of the Midwest. Jorie has served as the Director of Education for Burning Coal Theatre. Previously, she lived in Iowa City, where she was the Jewish Student Life Coordinator for the University of Iowa Hillel and the Theatre Editor for Little Village Magazine. She received her MA in Theatre Research from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her favorite roles performed include Yente in Fiddler on the Roof and Gertrude in On the Razzle. Jorie loved doing improv in high school as part of the REALITY Theatre ensemble, and she is excited to be training at Wild Mind Improv.
